The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs take an active role in building and improving the Southern Maryland region throughout the entire year. The Blue Crabs participate in countless community programs as possible to enhance the local area while encouraging other individuals and companies to do the same. The Blue Crabs strive to build and maintain strong community relationships by contributing their time and efforts and giving back whenever possible.

For the second year in a row, The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have helped raise over $100,000 for local non profit organizations.

Official Charity of the 2009 Season: The Blue Crabs partnered with Hospice of Charles County to be the team's Official Charity for 2009. As the team's Official Charity, Hospice of Charles County was able to gain exposure through the Blue Crabs with season-long concourse appearances, ballpark signage, fundraisers, and off season events.

Pinch Onto Books Reading Program: "Pinch Onto Books" presented by Educational Systems Federal Credit Union is the reading program of the Blue Crabs that we run every year to encourage children in grades K-8 to read. The information goes out to all Southern Maryland schools. Any child in the grade range who reads four books at their reading level and submits the provided bookmark will receive a voucher good for their counties reading night. In 2009, we had over 6,000 students participate in the reading program.

Donations: Non-profit organizations can request donations of the Blue Crabs for specific events, auctions, fundraiser, etc. At this time, there is a limit of four (4) tickets per donation request. To see our complete donation guidelines click here.

Ticket Exchange Program: Blue Crabs Season Ticket Holders have the opportunity to donate their unused season tickets to local non-profit organizations.

Civista Health Foundation Homeruns For Healthcare: Every time a Blue Crabs player hits a home run at Regency Furniture Stadium, every member of the Civista Health Foundation donates $10 to Civista Medical Center.

Birthday Announcements: If you would like to say Happy Birthday to a loved one, don't hesitate to come to the Fan Service Center to make that request. It is $5 per announcement. All of the money is donated to the Civista Foundation at the end of the season.

Mascot Community Appearances: Pinch is very popular in Southern Maryland and is often asked to attend various community events throughout the year. Pinch attends charity walks, little league opening days, festivals, libraries, etc. In 2009 Pinch has already donated 128 hours of his time! To have Pinch attend your next event click here.

Jersey Auctions: Throughout the season, Blue Crabs players and coaches will wear special themed jerseys that will be auctioned off during that night's game. The winning bidder will have the opportunity to meet the player of the field after the game. Each jersey auction is paired with a non-profit. The non-profit receives the proceeds from the auction.

Fundraising Partnerships: The Blue Crabs can help your organization raise money and awareness with no upfront cost! Create an event that will bring you memories for years to come. All you have to do is pick a date and have everyone purchase their tickets online with your code name. The more tickets are purchased online, the better the return to the organization. For more information on fundraising partnerships click here.

Fundraising In the Concession Stands: One major source of fundraising at Regency Furniture Stadium is earning funds while working in the concession stands. Groups of 25-30 people who are all 18 or older can choose five night in which they would like to work in the concession stands during a game. Centerplate, Regency Furniture Stadium's Concessionaire, will then give the group a percentage of the earnings. 2010 percentages have yet to be established. Contact Theresa Thomas at 301-638-7030 to book your group's 5 nights today!

Benefit Events: The Blue Crabs partner with local organizations to host Wine Tastings and Benefit Dinners for both non-profits and fundraising groups.

Wawa Shorties: Since getting the children in the community involved in extracurricular activities means so much to us, the Blue Crabs with the help of Wawa will give any child who wears their athletic uniform to a game, free admission.
