With anticipation and excitement in the air, the Blue Crabs introduced Pinch as their mascot on April 19, 2008 at Laurel Springs Park in La Plata, as part of the Charles County Youth League opening day parade and ceremonies.
Pinch surprised nearly 1,000 youth league participants by emerging from the third base dugout following the parade of every team. He spent the rest of the day posing for pictures and distributing Blue Crabs team information. Of course, his favorite team was the "Little Blue Crabs!" Following the CCYL opener, Pinch and the rest of the Blue Crabs staff headed to the St. Mary’s Babe Ruth League opener to meet even more fans and friends while participating in their parade.
Then it was off to the Patuxent Naval Air Museum where he got to admire some of the old airplanes once used in battle. Following the museum, Pinch continued his journey on Solomon’s Island where he watched the boats travel along the river. Pinch then ventured into the Calvert Marine Museum where he closely examined the Blue Crab exhibit, along with climbing the Drum Point Lighthouse. His long tour through the Southern Maryland region ended with a ride on La Plata’s Volunteer Fire Department fire truck.
While he can always be found walking around Regency Furniture stadium during games, he has also been spotted hanging out at many community events as well as on the corner of Route 301 by Wawa.
Pinch can’t wait to meet you at Regency Furniture Stadium and throughout Crustacean Nation this summer!
