Southern Maryland Blue Crabs closer Endrys Briceno has been voted a postseason All-Star for the 2024 season, The Atlantic League has announced.
This is Briceno’s third All-Star season in the ALPB. Briceno put together another award-winning season with the Blue Crabs posting a 2.06 ERA in 44 appearances, striking out 84 in 52.1 innings pitched while also leading the league in saves with 20. His strikeout rate per nine innings was 14.4, the highest of the 32-year old’s career. In July, he struck out 19 batters in only 10 innings pitched. He followed that up in August with his best month of the season pitching to a 1.39 ERA in 10 games. He fired 13 innings, striking out 23 and notching seven saves in the month.
Previously, Briceno pitched for Southern Maryland in 2023, 2022 and 2021, while also taking home ALPB Reliever of the year in 2021. That season, he authored an ERA of 1.87 in over 57 innings, while striking out 77. He returned to Southern Maryland in 2022 and was an All-star once again.
