Southern Maryland scored seven runs in the first two innings, that proved to be enough as they took two of three at home against the Rockers 7-6. Neil Lang got the start against Taylor Guerrieri (1-2), as Crabs jumped out to an early lead, after the first two were retired, Anthony Brocato dilled a homer to left field on a two-strike pitch, and then Juan Kelly hit one 400 feet to right field to go back-to-back for a Crabs 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the second, Isaias Quiroz hit an RBI single to make it 3-0, Jaylyn Williams got his first Blue Crab hit, then with two outs Michael Wielansky doubled home a run and with two on, Brocato hit a three-run bomb to left off the clubhouse making it a 7-0 lead. The rain came and persisted over several innings at Regency Furniture Stadium. In the fifth, Lang gave up four runs on three hits including a three-run homer by Nick Longhi cut the lead to 7-4. It got closer in the eighth, as Derek Casey, who threw a scoreless seventh, gave up a walk and then a single, left it for Jason Creasy, who got an out on a SAC bunt to make it second and third with one out, Figueroa walked to lead the bases, then Creasy got Ben Aklinski flew out to shallow left, but Connor Owings hit a soft single to right to bring home two runs to make it a 7-6 game, but Creasy struck out Zander Wiel looking to keep the lead. Endrys Briceno closed it down for his third save putting the Rockers to bed 1-2-3 in the ninth. Blue Crabs travel to HP to open a three game series on the read before returning home next week.
