The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs split Monday’s doubleheader against the York Revolution.

Game one was a continuation of a previously suspended game that began on May 21st in York. The Blue Crabs held a 4-1 lead after four innings before the game was delayed. With the game being resumed on Monday, the Revolution tallied a run in the sixth and seventh innings, bringing them within one of the Crabs.

Brett Barrera came up with the big hit in the ninth. It was a sharp single down the right field line to score Giovanni Digiacomo from second to give the Blue Crabs a 5-3 lead.

Ian Kahaloa earned his fourth win after tossing 8.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out nine batters. Andre Scrubb tallied his second save after striking out one batter in the ninth to secure the 5-3 win in York.

The Blue Crabs took an early lead in game two with an RBI double from Sam Dexter in the second inning. Ethan Wilson cranked his fifth home run of the season in the third to give the Blue Crabs a 2-0 lead.

The Revolution answered back with a sacrifice fly by Marty Costes before Brett Barrera notched an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1. York then tied the game after a run in the fourth and the fifth.

The Blue Crabs surrendered the lead when Ryan Higgins hit a go-ahead single in the sixth while Michael Berglund extended the Revolution lead to 5-3 with a sacrifice fly.

After splitting the doubleheader, the Blue Crabs now sit at 17-16. Southern Maryland will hit the road for Long Island on Tuesday.
