The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs bounced back with a 10-7 victory over the High Point Rockers on Saturday night.
Southern Maryland had to come from behind after allowing an early run in the first. The Blue Crabs tied the ballgame in the second when Jackson Loftin brought a run home with a sacrifice fly. In the third Ethan Wilson doubled before Jamari Baylor knocked him in to give the Blue Crabs a 2-1 lead. After Sam Dexter in the third, Loftin spanked a two-run shot to make it a 4-1 ballgame.
High Point nabbed a run back in the fourth before tying the ballgame at 5-5 after a three-run sixth.
The Blue Crabs a 7-6 lead with a Dondrei Hubbard RBI double then exploded for a five-run eighth inning. Dexter singled in Pearce Howard before Loftin hit an RBI single. Then to cap off the inning, John Taylor cranked a three-run blast.
High Point tallied two in the bottom of the eighth before Andre Scrubb closed the ballgame in the ninth to notch the Blue Crabs a vital win in North Carolina.
Shawn Semple tossed six innings before Cody Thompson threw in the seventh and eighth. Thompson got the win and Scrubb notched his third save of the season.
With the win, the Blue Crabs climb back to .500 and sit 19-19. Southern Maryland will go for the series win in Sunday’s rubber match with first pitch slated for 4:05 pm.
