(Wednesday, July 5th, Waldorf) After a win in front of a packed crowd, the Crabs returned for another game with the High Point Rockers. Jesse Estrada was the starting pitcher for the Blue Crabs, as he was trying to help the Crabs get their first series win since early June.
High Point pounced on Southern Maryland in the first inning; Zander Wiel plated the first run with a double against Estrada. The Rockers continued to string hits together. Ben Aklinski, Michael Martinez, and Emmanuel Tapia all drove in runs, and the Rockers were up 4-0.
Wiel bashed his 16th home run in the third to extend their lead to 5-0. Philip Caulfield drove in the first run for the Crabs; he punched a single into left with Jack Sundberg crossing the plate from second.
The Blue Crabs fought in the bottom of the sixth; Ryan Haug blooped a ball over the head of Ryan Grotjohn, and the lead was cut down to 5-2. Dai-Kang Yoh collected an RBI from a sacrifice fly; the final run would score as the Rockers evened the series at one game apiece. The final tally came out as 6-2.
The series finale is Thursday, with Liam O’Sullivan, the former Rocker, going to close out the series. The game is at home in Regency Furniture Stadium; purchase tickets at SoMDBlueCrabs.COM or tune in live at FloSports. The fun starts at 6:35 PM.
