Blue Crabs Draft A Former National
(Waldorf, MD) In today’s Atlantic League of Professional Baseball dispersal draft of Spire City Ghost Hound players, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs selected backstop Raudy Read with the 6th overall pick.
Read hails from the Dominican Republic and made his MLB debut in 2017 with the Washington Nationals. In 2022, the catcher was in the minor leagues with the Chicago White Sox, where he hit .303 and had a .953 OPS.
Last year, Read participated in 81 games for the Ghost Hounds, where he crushed 20 home runs, had a .305 batting average, and a .902 OPS. Read played in six games last year at Regency Furniture Stadium and finished with a .348 average with two home runs and five RBIs.
The Blue Crabs now possess the Atlantic League rights to Raudy Read.
