The 29-year-old Semple was born in Voorhees, New Jersey. He played college baseball at the University of New Orleans, then in 2017, the New York Yankees selected Semple in the 11th round of the MLB Draft.

Semple debuted in the South Atlantic League with the Charleston RiverDogs in 2018, rising through the Yankees’ system, he reached Double-A with the Trenton Thunder by 2019 and later pitched at the Triple-A level with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. In 2023, after being released by the Yankees, Semple signed a minor league deal with the Seattle Mariners and joined the Arkansas Travelers (Double-A).

Semple has posted a career minor league record of 32-28 with a 4.33 ERA in his time with the Yankees.

In 2024 for the Blue Crabs, he threw 93 innings, and had an ERA of 5.23, and a walk per nine innings of just 2.4. He had four quality starts, with his best performance coming against the future ALPB champions York on May 7th, where he gave up just one run over seven innings and struck out eight Revs in a winning effort.

Due to injury, Semple then transitioned to the bullpen on August 10th, where he put together four scoreless appearances out of the pen. His final appearance of the year came as a starter against Gastonia, where he had another quality start of six innings of two run ball.

This will be Semple’s eighth professional season and second with the Blue Crabs.
