Stan Cliburn Returns as Blue Crabs Skipper for 2025 Season, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Announce
(Waldorf, MD): Minor league’s 14th winningest manager in history, Stan Cliburn, will return for his seventh season as Blue Crabs manager in 2025.
Cliburn achieved baseball immortality this past season, notching his 2,000th win as a minor league manager, making him just the 14th manager to achieve this. He sits at 2,015 wins, which currently is 14th all time. Cliburn has managed single-A all the way through Triple-A, as well as over 1,000 wins as an independent manager, in a career that has spanned over 50 years in baseball.
In six seasons with the Crabs, he has led them to three playoff appearances, and had an 83-win season in 2022, while also setting the Atlantic League record of first half winning percentage at .727. That record was just broken last season by Gastonia. The Blue Crabs concluded that season’s first half with a 48-18 record. Cliburn is 391-391 with the Blue Crabs as their manager, an even .500 record in six seasons.
As the new year approaches, Cliburn is excited and ready for the challenges that comes with every new year:

Blue Crabs General Manager Courtney Knichel notes that Cliburn’s experience can be leaned on. She said:
