Biography:
Jose Rosario is an infielder that was acquired by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on January 27, 2023, The Blue Crabs traded starting pitcher Eddie Butler to the Charleston Dirty Birds in the deal.
Rosario was signed at the age of 17-years-old in 2009 with the New York Yankees. He was with the Bronx Bombers until 2016 when he was granted his release and signed with the Boston Red Sox.
For the past couple of years, Rosario has been playing independent baseball. In 2019, he played for the Milwaukee Milkmen in the American Association, for the last two years he was with the Frontier League's Gateway Grizzlies. In July of the 2022 season, he was signed to join the Charleston Dirty Birds in the Atlantic League.
Rosario only played in 10 games with the Dirty Birds until he was injured and placed on the reserve list. In those 10 games with the club, he had a .405 on-base percentage and hit two doubles, and Rosario managed to work more walks than he did strikeouts.
This will be Rosario’s fifth year on the independent circuit, but his 13th season in professional baseball.
