Ryan Haug is a 28-year-old catcher from Rohnert Park, California. The backstop spent his last three college seasons at the University of Arizona; the team made it to the College World Series national championship in his first year. Upon graduation, Haug would start his professional baseball journey after the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted him.
Haug played with the Chicago Dogs in 2020 and 2021; last year was his first with the Blue Crabs. The right-handed hitter set a new mark last year in the Atlantic League, as he got plunked 29 times; he also would gun down 31% of potential base stealers when the league average was 20%. At the end of the season, the California Native was named to the Red, White, and Blue Glove All-Defensive team.
